SMB Secure purpose is to guide Small & Medium Business in implementing their security perimeter.

A security perimeter revolves around many security devices such as anti-virus, content filtering, virtual private networks, intrusion detection systems, vulnerability scanners, etc. However, the foundation of any security perimeter is the firewall. The perimeter exists only through the firewall which creates a boundary between the trusted network (your private network) and the outside (internet). Firewalls are responsible for accepting or refusing access and services to internal or external users. Their role is paramount at such a point that nearly 100% of internet users possess one firewall.

Plethora of Firewall products such as software firewalls, hardware firewalls, personal firewalls, enterprise firewalls are now available on the market, each of them integrating numerous of proprietary-based services generally full of buzzwords. In addition, firewalls are offering additional features that are not strictly firewall functions (IDS, IPS, Spam filtering, URL screening...); they are progressively moving to multi-function security products with multitude of options and extra cost features. Comparing and evaluating the offerings is not straightforward anymore. The objective of this website is to provide a solid framework for SME administrators to help them in the process of selecting a firewall architecture and products.
